Advice on clipping it in, styling, washing and storing hair extension

Materials:
Duck Clip

Tail Comb
Step 1:

Clipping it in

To create glamorous hair like celebrities and models, it is most ideal to use 4 pieces of our 'GLAMOROUS' hair extension . Each piece has 3 clips. Practice opening and closing the clips by putting pressure in the middle of the clip. There will be three layers of hair extensions:

a. Create a horizontal part with a tail comb below your ears. Lift up all the hair above the part and use a duck clip to clip it out of the way.
Place the first hair piece along the hairline and clip the center clip first. Secure the remaining clips on both sides.

b. Release your own hair from the clip and create a horizontal part slightly higher above the first hair piece and secure your hair with the duck clip. Place the second hair piece along the new part starting with the center clip. Extend the hair extension on either side and secure the remaining clips on both sides.

d.Release your own hair from the clip and create a horizontal part slightly above your ear and secure your hair with the clip. Place one hair piece on the left side of your head and secure the clips tightly. Place the last hair piece on the right side of your head and secure the clips too. the two hair pieces should meet in the middle or slightly cross each other. Release the rest of your hair.

Step 2:

Styling the hair

Comb your hair evenly with a loose tooth comb to even out the hair. Blow dryers, curling irons and other thermal tools may be used on low settings. Remember, the hair may scorch if the setting is too high.

Just like real hair, hair extensions do not hold their shape after washing. Each time you wash your hair extension, you must restyle it. A straightening iron is recommended if you want long, shiny hair. After clipping on the hair extension, go through your entire head with a straightening iron.

If you want curly hair, use a curling iron to curl *I like using the Baby Bliss brand*. It is not recommended to curl the hair extension before clipping it into the hair as it might not match your real hair. Iron it together after you have clipped the hair pieces.

You can choose to cut the hair extensions to create a specific shape such as layers. Cutting the hair extension will make it look more natural. For cutting, or any chemical processes such as perming or coloring, take the extensions to a professional stylist.

*Human Hair extensions have been previously treated and chemically processed. It is not recommended to lighten or lift color from this hair. If you must color the human hair extensions, we recommend purchasing a lighter color and using semi-permanent color to deposit only.

** Unlike your hair, this hair does not grow back if you cut it. So, remember to always take your new hair to a salon professional if you need it customized. This will give you the best results!

Step 3:

Cleaning the hair

TIP: Caring for your new hair product is easy, and you should treat your new product as an investment that you want to keep looking new and fresh for as long as possible. The correct care and maintenance will ensure you that the product will last for the longest amount of time. So, use the following instructions as a gauge for determining how and when you should wash and care for your products. Just like your own hair, human hair will accumulate residue through normal wear. If you are wearing the hair all day, every day, you can wash them after 3-4 wearings.

Don't wash your hair extension while its still clipped on your head. Remove it before washing as you do not want it to be tangled to your own hair.

Before shampooing, gently remove any tangles. If hair is excessively tangled, a spray on conditioner should be used.Always use a mild shampoo or one specifically formulated for chemically treated hair.

Run the hair under warm water and gently work a little but of shampoo into the hair, stroking downwards from the base to the ends. Do not twist, scrub or rub the hair. Then, rinse thoroughly under warm running water until the water runs clear. Be sure to rinse until all shampoo is removed, as improper rinsing could result in damage.

Just like your own hair, human hair extensions need to be conditioned after shampooing to maintain a healthy shine and promote styling ease. Place a small amount of conditioner in your hand. Gently work into the hair and let sit for three to five minutes. Rinse thoroughly in warm water.

Gently towel blot (dry) the hair. Then, spray the hair with a leave-in conditioner before beginning to comb the hair. While wet, gently comb the hair to remove tangles. Starting at the ends, grasp the hair in the middle and hold the hair firmly while moving a large toothed comb down from your grip towards the ends. When you have combed out all the tangles from the hair you are holding, release your grip and grab the hair closer to the top. Continue to comb the hair below your grip. Continue this method until all the hair is tangle-free. The key is to treat your hair as if it is on the head of a "Tender-Headed" person. By doing this, you create the least amount of tension that may result in hair breaking or pulling from the weft. Do not use a bristle brush on wet hair as it may pull out or break the hair.

Hang to air dry or use a blow dryer on a low setting, as desired. Put a little hair serum on the hair before storing. If the hair is excessively dry, a "professional" conditioner may be necessary. Consult your stylist about this.

Step 4:

Storing the hair

It is best to store the human hair in it's original container. However, you can store the hair in a plastic bag or shoe box.

To keep the desired curl pattern, you may want to set the hair on rollers that conform to the curl size you wish to maintain before storing in plastic.

Do not sleep or swim while wearing the human hair.

Just for Laughs!

Another reason why you should get hair extensions.

A scene from The Ugly Truth, starring Gerald Butler and Katherine Heigl.

Quote of the day:

'Men like something to grab on to other than your ass. A pony tail implies that you’re either operating heavy machinery or emptying the litter box neither of those things inspires an erection.' - Butler

How to Tell Human Hair From Synthetic | eHow.com

How to Tell Human Hair From Synthetic eHow.com

For the most part, natural human hair is a better choice for wigs and hairpieces, though it tends to be a bit harder to come by. If you're in doubt about the material that was used to create a hairpiece you own or might be considering for purchase, there are several ways to tell what kind of hair went into the piece's construction.

Step 1: View the hair under a microscope. If the hair is synthetic, it is made from a form of plastic that will appear clear when lit and magnified under a microscope. Natural hair that has never been dyed will have a solid core and clear outer layer, while dyed natural hair will have solid color throughout.

Step 2: Expose a strand of hair to flame. If the hair is natural, it will immediately catch fire and burn nearly instantly, curling into a ball. It will also have a strong, somewhat unpleasant smell. Synthetic hair, on the other hand, will slowly melt rather than burn, and will have almost no smell.

Step 3: Look at the color. If the hair has subtle changes of color and highlights, chances are good that it's natural and has acquired its color through exposure to natural light. This look is difficult to achieve through artificial means, so its presence may indicate natural hair.

Step 4: Feel the texture. Each strand of natural hair is coated with scales. This means that the hair is smooth if you pinch and rub it moving downward, but resists and feels different if you rub it the other way. Synthetic hair is smooth whichever way you rub it.
