Advice on clipping it in, styling, washing and storing hair extension

Duck Clip

Tail Comb
Step 1:

Clipping it in

To create glamorous hair like celebrities and models, it is most ideal to use 4 pieces of our 'GLAMOROUS' hair extension . Each piece has 3 clips. Practice opening and closing the clips by putting pressure in the middle of the clip. There will be three layers of hair extensions:

a. Create a horizontal part with a tail comb below your ears. Lift up all the hair above the part and use a duck clip to clip it out of the way.
Place the first hair piece along the hairline and clip the center clip first. Secure the remaining clips on both sides.

b. Release your own hair from the clip and create a horizontal part slightly higher above the first hair piece and secure your hair with the duck clip. Place the second hair piece along the new part starting with the center clip. Extend the hair extension on either side and secure the remaining clips on both sides.

d.Release your own hair from the clip and create a horizontal part slightly above your ear and secure your hair with the clip. Place one hair piece on the left side of your head and secure the clips tightly. Place the last hair piece on the right side of your head and secure the clips too. the two hair pieces should meet in the middle or slightly cross each other. Release the rest of your hair.

Step 2:

Styling the hair

Comb your hair evenly with a loose tooth comb to even out the hair. Blow dryers, curling irons and other thermal tools may be used on low settings. Remember, the hair may scorch if the setting is too high.

Just like real hair, hair extensions do not hold their shape after washing. Each time you wash your hair extension, you must restyle it. A straightening iron is recommended if you want long, shiny hair. After clipping on the hair extension, go through your entire head with a straightening iron.

If you want curly hair, use a curling iron to curl *I like using the Baby Bliss brand*. It is not recommended to curl the hair extension before clipping it into the hair as it might not match your real hair. Iron it together after you have clipped the hair pieces.

You can choose to cut the hair extensions to create a specific shape such as layers. Cutting the hair extension will make it look more natural. For cutting, or any chemical processes such as perming or coloring, take the extensions to a professional stylist.

*Human Hair extensions have been previously treated and chemically processed. It is not recommended to lighten or lift color from this hair. If you must color the human hair extensions, we recommend purchasing a lighter color and using semi-permanent color to deposit only.

** Unlike your hair, this hair does not grow back if you cut it. So, remember to always take your new hair to a salon professional if you need it customized. This will give you the best results!

Step 3:

Cleaning the hair

TIP: Caring for your new hair product is easy, and you should treat your new product as an investment that you want to keep looking new and fresh for as long as possible. The correct care and maintenance will ensure you that the product will last for the longest amount of time. So, use the following instructions as a gauge for determining how and when you should wash and care for your products. Just like your own hair, human hair will accumulate residue through normal wear. If you are wearing the hair all day, every day, you can wash them after 3-4 wearings.

Don't wash your hair extension while its still clipped on your head. Remove it before washing as you do not want it to be tangled to your own hair.

Before shampooing, gently remove any tangles. If hair is excessively tangled, a spray on conditioner should be used.Always use a mild shampoo or one specifically formulated for chemically treated hair.

Run the hair under warm water and gently work a little but of shampoo into the hair, stroking downwards from the base to the ends. Do not twist, scrub or rub the hair. Then, rinse thoroughly under warm running water until the water runs clear. Be sure to rinse until all shampoo is removed, as improper rinsing could result in damage.

Just like your own hair, human hair extensions need to be conditioned after shampooing to maintain a healthy shine and promote styling ease. Place a small amount of conditioner in your hand. Gently work into the hair and let sit for three to five minutes. Rinse thoroughly in warm water.

Gently towel blot (dry) the hair. Then, spray the hair with a leave-in conditioner before beginning to comb the hair. While wet, gently comb the hair to remove tangles. Starting at the ends, grasp the hair in the middle and hold the hair firmly while moving a large toothed comb down from your grip towards the ends. When you have combed out all the tangles from the hair you are holding, release your grip and grab the hair closer to the top. Continue to comb the hair below your grip. Continue this method until all the hair is tangle-free. The key is to treat your hair as if it is on the head of a "Tender-Headed" person. By doing this, you create the least amount of tension that may result in hair breaking or pulling from the weft. Do not use a bristle brush on wet hair as it may pull out or break the hair.

Hang to air dry or use a blow dryer on a low setting, as desired. Put a little hair serum on the hair before storing. If the hair is excessively dry, a "professional" conditioner may be necessary. Consult your stylist about this.

Step 4:

Storing the hair

It is best to store the human hair in it's original container. However, you can store the hair in a plastic bag or shoe box.

To keep the desired curl pattern, you may want to set the hair on rollers that conform to the curl size you wish to maintain before storing in plastic.

Do not sleep or swim while wearing the human hair.

Just for Laughs!

Another reason why you should get hair extensions.

A scene from The Ugly Truth, starring Gerald Butler and Katherine Heigl.

Quote of the day:

'Men like something to grab on to other than your ass. A pony tail implies that you’re either operating heavy machinery or emptying the litter box neither of those things inspires an erection.' - Butler

How to Tell Human Hair From Synthetic |

How to Tell Human Hair From Synthetic

For the most part, natural human hair is a better choice for wigs and hairpieces, though it tends to be a bit harder to come by. If you're in doubt about the material that was used to create a hairpiece you own or might be considering for purchase, there are several ways to tell what kind of hair went into the piece's construction.

Step 1: View the hair under a microscope. If the hair is synthetic, it is made from a form of plastic that will appear clear when lit and magnified under a microscope. Natural hair that has never been dyed will have a solid core and clear outer layer, while dyed natural hair will have solid color throughout.

Step 2: Expose a strand of hair to flame. If the hair is natural, it will immediately catch fire and burn nearly instantly, curling into a ball. It will also have a strong, somewhat unpleasant smell. Synthetic hair, on the other hand, will slowly melt rather than burn, and will have almost no smell.

Step 3: Look at the color. If the hair has subtle changes of color and highlights, chances are good that it's natural and has acquired its color through exposure to natural light. This look is difficult to achieve through artificial means, so its presence may indicate natural hair.

Step 4: Feel the texture. Each strand of natural hair is coated with scales. This means that the hair is smooth if you pinch and rub it moving downward, but resists and feels different if you rub it the other way. Synthetic hair is smooth whichever way you rub it.

Choosing the right clip-on hair extensions

Step 1:

Choosing hair colour

Matching the colour of the hair extension to your hair is very ESSENTIAL so that it looks natural. However, it doesn't matter if you are not sure whether your hair colour matches the hair extension. Most likely, it won't, as there are too many shades of brown available. Choose the colour that is the CLOSES to your real hair colour.

Just keep in mind that you are choosing a colour that you want your hair to look like. You can dye either your own hair or the hair extension to make it match the other later. You can also dye both.

Remember you want to look as if the hair extensions belongs to your real hair. Therefore, having matching colours is crucial.

Step 2:
How much hair extensions do i need?

If you have:

a) long, thin hair-
Chooose 3 pieces of 'Glamorous' hair extension or 1 piece of 'Glamorous' hair extension and 2 pieces of voluminous hair extension. If you want lots of volume, it is recommended to choose 4 pieces of glamorous hair extension.

b) middle length hair
Choose 4 pieces of glamorous hair extension.

c) short hair
Choose the Hollywood hair extension set or 5 pieces of glamorous hair extension.

Now you're ready to rumble, head on down to our order form and fill out the details. For more info, email us at and we'll try to help you with your dilemma.

Why Clip In Hair Extensions?

Clip-In hair extensions are becoming the most popular choice of hair extension systems in America thanks to Hollywood starlets such as Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Megan Fox, Lady Gaga and Beyonce (just to name a few). Clip-in hair extensions are the easiest and safest way to add length, volume, or color without causing damage to your own hair. They come in many colours and lengths and we sell only 100% human hair. It can be dyed, flat ironed, curled and blow dried. There are many different clip-in extension systems available ranging from one piece to multi-piece systems.

Top 5 Reasons to Choose Clip-In Hair Extensions:
• Affordable Price Range (RM75-RM400)
• Low Maintenance
• Damage-Free, Clip-in Attachment
• Easy DIY "Do-It-Yourself" Application
• Fast, takes about 5 minutes to clip in the hair extension.
•Virtually Undetectable

Clip-in hair extensions provide the perfect alternative to permanent hair extensions, which causes hair breakage, scalp problems or hair fall. Temporary hair solutions like clip-in hair extensions are more affordable and easier to maintain compared to permanent extensions. Clip-in hair extensions work with most hair types and does not cause irritation or strains the scalp.

Blogger Cindy Tey suffered "cancer"-like hair after 6 months of having hair extensions weaved into her hair permanently. Dandruff, hair fall and tangled hair are some effects of permanent weaved hair.

Clip-In extensions are the perfect DIY system. They take only minutes to put in and seconds to take out. With clip-in hair extensions, you can have salon quality hair without having to spend hours in a salon.

Clip-in extensions are virtually undetectable. They provide a natural look and can also be styled differently. No more waiting around for short hair to grow out, with clip-in hair extensions, it is easy to have long hair and volume in just a matter of minutes!

Real Human Hair vs. Synthetic Hair

Human Hair

Synthetic Hair

How long do they last?

Approximately 1 year (with proper care)

Approximately 1-3 months

Can I use heating tools, like curling iron or hot rollers?

Yes. 100% Human Hair Extensions are heat-friendly and can be styled using heating tools, just like your own hair!

Although, there are some heat-friendly Synthetic options available. Most Synthetic Extensions will melt when exposed to heat.

Are they easy to maintain?

100% Human Hair Extensions require a bit more maintenance than Synthetic Extensions. Like your own hair, your style is likely to fall in the rain or humidity.

Synthetic Extensions have "memory", meaning the style is pre-set and will not fall in the rain or humidity as 100% Human Hair does.

I'm getting married. Which option do you recommend?

Both options will work for any special occasion. Most brides choose 100% Human Hair Extensions because of their natural look and styling versatility.

If you are planning a tropical wedding, or if your wedding date is set during a rainy month, Synthetic Extensions may be a better way to go.

Can they be color treated?

Why Should I Wear Hair Extensions?

In this blog we’ll be talking about hair, hair and hair. A guy friend once told me that the first thing most guys noticed in a girl is their HAIR.

Short hair - OUT

Long hair – SEXY!!!

Then only does a guy look at their body shape (slim and busty, duh...) and lastly the face (pretty or pimply). Remember, we’re not talking about getting to know a girl on a personal and deeper level; we’re talking about first impressions. What makes a guy turn their heads and say “Wow! That girl is HOT”?

You’ve seen it in movies and commercials. The guy stops and stares at the girl while she slowly flips her hair to then only reveal her face. May it be the long, shiny, luscious hair or the wavy, bouncy, voluptuous hair, the guy always takes a second look at the girl.

Hence, how do normal girls like us get sexy hair like Penelope Cruz who just looks like she got out of bed and got amazing hair like that? The answer to this question is

If you’re still not convinced, below are 10 reasons why you need one:

  1. Hair extension gives your hair extra volume and thickness. You’ll look like Beyonce, Lady Gaga and maybe even Megan Fox.

  2. It gives you the hair length that you have always dreamed of cause you’ve never managed to keep your hair below chest.

  3. Have problems with hair lost? With extensions, you'll always have lots of hair and you don’t even need to spend thousands in Yum Nam.

  4. Remember that you’re helping poor farm girls from the remote parts of China by paying for their highly valued hair.

  5. You can keep your obsession about going to the hairdresser at least once a month for a “trim” and still have long thick hair. ;p

  6. You will never have a bad hair day again. EVER.

  7. Sick of dealing with the hassles of long hair. E.g., hours spent washing and drying, hair falling everywhere including in your food, dealing with the hot weather, etc. No worries, cause you can always take off your hair extensions and it doesn't need lots of maintenance.

  8. It gives you the flexibility of having short hair when you’re getting it down and dirty or doing sports to having long hair when you’re going out on a date, dinner etc.

  9. Accidentally made the wrong decision of cutting your hair or someone accidentally cut your hair off, remember its as easy clipping it on and you're ready to strut it out again!

  10. You can use it to scare people during Halloween by clipping your hair extensions in front of your face. Muahahaha~

So sit tight cause The Glamorous Hair Shop will be bringing gorgeous hair extensions to you soon...
